Madison is such a beautiful granddaughter and her date planned a fun "Progressive
Dinner Date."  They went to one place for an appetizer, then to another for dinner and finished with ice cream at an ice cream shop.  It is so fun to share in the moments.  Tomorrow we celebrate the wonderful life of our Uncle Dorsal in Idaho Falls.  We love life and so grateful Roy is healing from his car accident March 2nd.  Christian and Christi greeted us at 3:40pm with hugs after our 10 hr and 20 minute trip to their home.

Lisa, Tom and Mary Ann ~ 2013

Our Stake President's (Mark McConkie) wife, and my friend shared.  She attached it to the email picture I took last September of her son who is in Lisa and Tom's ward.  It is so fun to be connected through the gospel with our friends and family knowing each other where ever we go in the world.

Love, Mom/Rexene

2013 - March 4th -                               MADISON IS 16!

We had such a nice day celebrating with Madison on her 16th birthday.  Madison styled my hair the night before.  I was with her for Breakfast, Lunch ( Mom and I got her ouT of school ) and  dinner.  Christi made a great soft taco Birthday dinner enjoyed with long time family friends. Young women President  did a "Ring and Run" ~ She left balloons, hearts, and chocolate kisses on the door to greet Madi.  My gift of photos, letters and journal writing of 16 years and a treasure box was very appreciated.  Thank you, Madison, for being such a joy in our lives.  I love you,   Gramma

MARCH 2ND 2013

"March came in like a Lion...."  we will hope it will go out "Like a Lamb."

Roy and I are both fine but he has not had a good Saturday.

After Roy dropped me at the Denver airport  this morning, before 7 am,  for my trip  for the LDS Academy of Dentist meetings and bonus of being in town for Madison's 16th birthday party, he was heading back home on the freeway,.  A truck spun out on ice.  A car in front of him and he stopped but the car in back of Roy was so busy looking at the truck he plowed into Roy at at least 55 miles an hour.  (according to the police).
I was only getting parts of the story as  phone signals in the airport were bad as I went through security.  He was not giving all the details.  Roy just said he was fine so it was after arriving in Utah I got the rest of the story.

Our car is totaled.  The gas tank  was pushed up and the back is caved in.  The police had the car  towed to their compound  near the airport because they determined it was dangerous.  Roy did a face plant into the steering wheel.  He chipped his teeth and could see a laceration inside his nose.  The air bag did not go off.  He walked to the off-airport Budget car rental near the police compound with bleeding from his nose.  He can not get the things from the car until tomorrow. (3 hours round trip).  Insurance told him they will talk to him on Monday.

I got our Oral Surgeon's emergency number and he met Roy at his office.   It was worse than Roy knew.  Roy has  a broken nose  and it was dislocated.  The doctor pushed it back in place and it will heal if he does not bump it again.  Roy has  6 sutures inside his nose.  The Doctor said, "This is a lot worse than it looks.  You peeled your nose back.  You have lacerated an  inch into the sinus.  Your eyes have taken a beating.  Watch for floaters." (Roy is still healing for his torn retina in the left eye).

He told Roy to go home and put ice on his face.  After Roy reported all this to me he said , " I am going home to eat ice cream."   I said, " Ha ha!"  and just smiled.  He is taking his injuries better than me.  I am hurting for him.

Roy chipped his front tooth  will need a veneer.   Three others ache.  We will have to wait and watch and hope they don't die.  We have been told whip lash is coming.  He told me he is not looking pretty.  I haven't been able to get him to take a picture for insurance.  I just talked to him again and he is going to rest and go to bed early.  He plans to drive back to Denver tomorrow with his rental car and hopefully get everything out.  The back "72 hr kit" and tools may be hard to get.  He has electrical things he put in for my "office on wheels."  (I will miss our car).

I have a lot of things in the car and even emergency money hidden.  Things are  are pinned in.  He has to wait for police man to let him in so I hope it works out.  He says he feels okay.  We will see how he feels in the morning and in four days.

Life goes on.  I am grateful he is okay.  It could have been worse.  We were planning  and saving for a car for NEXT  year.  It will work out.  It just takes time away from better things.  I count my blessings and I am having a lot better time than my sweetheart.  I am in Provo with cute 15 month old Esme.  Deb and Kellen have made me home made sugar cookies and pizza and we are watching "Jack Carter."  Actually I am having more fun watching Esme and Roy is in bed early.  I will check on him in the morning.  I will be in Logan tomorrow  with Christi, Madison and Christian and back here on Tuesday.  Meeting on Wednesday.  Sure wish I could be in two places at once.  I will be home Thursday.

Love, Rexene

2013 VALENTINES/PRESIDENT'S DAY in Utah

                                                        ESME AND GRANDPA

Suddenly we are in March as I share moment from two weeks ago.  Roy and I flew from Denver the night of the 13th of Feb.  Deb, Kellen and our doll baby, Esme, drove from Provo to take us to their home.

On Valentines  Grandpa and I enjoyed being with Esme all day and she fell asleep in his arms at 10:30 at night.  Deb was so kind, knowing we were coming to set her ultra sound appointment for 11am on Valentines so we could be with her, Kellen, Grandma Paty and Aunt Gaby.

"IT'S A GIRL!"  Due the last week of June 2013.  It would be fun if she was born on my birthday, June 23rd.  Babies come when then want too.  Esme was due in December 2011 and came two weeks early, 11/27/11.  We celebrated with a Buffet Lunch that included ice cream cones and Esme's first experience with Cotton Candy.  She wasn't sure about that "stuff.":)

On Sunday at Deb and Kellen's ward I found our cute family on the bulletin board.

Then we visited Roy's sister, Beverly Nagy who gave Christian an organ lesson.  Her doggie "Cutie" deserves her name.  We all loved her.

After time with Aunt Beverly we had a delicious Birthday Dinner (2/17/13) at Paty's home for her birthday.  All the pictures were erased off Paty's camera.  They framed in my mind.

PRESIDENT'S DAY on our way to Logan with Christian and Madi for school the next day we stopped at Beverly's daughter's  home in Saratoga Springs.
Christian and Madison on the patio with a view of Utah Lake and Mountains
Teresa and me.  Dwight and Teresa have made such a lovely home for their children and grandkids when they visit.  They are just ten minutes from our next stop - Thanksgiving Point and the Dinosaur Museum.
Our three grand kids had a great time with us (Deb & Esme)
                                                 Christian, Gramma/Nana Rexene and Madi

While Christi was in Arizona checking to see if a move would be a good choice we got Christian and Madison to school in Logan and had fun visiting my cousin, Dale Swan and wife, Lyn in Hyrum, Utah.  It was such a blessed time connecting and finding family photo treasures and photos.  I made a new friend in their daughter, Kerry Swan Peck, who has made a wonderful family blog for us all.

After school we enjoyed "The Crepery"with Madison and Christian.
On the way to Salt Lake we made a quick stop for a hug and reunion with my 4th grade friend, Linda Hunsaker (I will ad pictures in another story) and then had time for lunch with our dear friends (missionaries) , Brad and Sid Harper at the Church Office Building.

After arriving in Denver at 5pm on Wednesday the snow was turning into a blizzard.  The plane had passed the airport three times before landing.  It took 4 hours to drive home (usual is 1 1/2 hrs).
There were places where we were in a "white out" - Roy would get behind a big truck who would plow the snow for us.  It was beautiful and we just went slow.  It took this as we arrived home at 9pm.  The snow lite up the night.  The sky was white.  We were blessed.  The news the next morning report "100 car pile up" and other accidents.   Wow, I send thanksgiving up above for a weekend of Love and can not thank our wonderful family and friends enough for wanting us to be with them.
